Influence of Different Heat Treatment Temperatures on the Microstructure and Corrosion Behaviour of Dual-Phase EN8 Steel in 0.5 M Sulphuric Acid Solution

Abstract Dual-phase steels provide an excellent combination of strength and ductility, as well improved energy absorption anti-corrosion protection properties. This research aims at evaluating the microstructure corrosion behaviour EN8 steel under different heat treatment temperatures in 0.5 M sulphuric acid solution (H 2 SO 4 ) using EIS, potentiodynamic polarization, gravimetric method (weight-loss method). Austenitizing is performed 973 K, 1023 1063 1173 K for h followed by quenching water to form a ferrite–martensite (F–M) dual-phase structure. From results, it seen that rate increased with conditions depending on change phase when immersed H temperature 303 313 323 333 K. work investigates activation, enthalpy, entropy activation. For containing ferrite martensite, depends amount martensite ferrite. As austenitization increases from increases. reflected increase micro galvanic cells region between phases, which acts active centres. The normalized specimen showed greater resistance compared water-quenched due presence lower carbon content ferrite–pearlite than present austenitized Surface characterization XRD confirmed specimens investigation.
